1) About Devicebuyers.com.au
These Terms govern our device buyback / trade-in service for phones, tablets, laptops and accessories (“Device”). Victorian law applies. We operateas a second-hand dealer in Victoria and comply with applicable requirements.
2) Who can sell & ownership
You confirm you are 18+ (or have guardian consent), are the legal owner, and the Device is not lost, stolen, blocked, financed or otherwise encumbered. We may decline any Device where law or risk requires it.
3) Quotes & validity (14 days)
Online quotes are estimates based on your answers and are valid for 14 days from issue. Final value is confirmed after our inspection.
4) Sending your Device
4.1 Use our prepaid Australia Post label or your own method. Pack securely and remove SIMs and memory cards.
4.2 Transit risk: Risk remains with you until the parcel is delivered and scanned as received at our facility. Most AusPost services include limited compensation; for higher values you can purchase Extra Cover from Australia Post.
5) Check-in & 7-day retention
On arrival we log the Device and hold it for at least 7 days in the condition received. We do not sell or otherwise dispose of it during this period.
6) ID verification & records
We may need to verify your identity and keep prescribed records (name, address, ID details, IMEI/serial, date/time, price). We may notify police if wesuspect goods are stolen. You agree to provide acceptable ID when requested.
7) Assessment
We verify model, storage, cosmetic condition, functionality (buttons, cameras, audio, Face/Touch ID), battery health, signs of liquid ingress, prior repairs/aftermarket parts, region/carrier/finance blocks and activation locks (e.g., iCloud/Find My/FRP).
8) Revised offers (response timeframes)
If the Device materially differs from your description, we may issue a revised offer at our discretion. If you accept the revised offer within 5 calendar days of our email, we will proceed on that amount and issue payment within 24 hours of inspection and acceptance (bank processing times may vary). If you decline within 5 calendar days, we will return the Device at our cost (Australian addresses). If you do not reply within 10 calendar days, you agree that we will proceed with the revised payment and keep the Device.
9) Optional fast-track: Express Payout auto-accept any revision (opt-in)
If the Device materially differs from your description, we may issue a revised offer at our discretion. If you accept the revised offer within 5 calendar days of our email, we will proceed on that amount and issue payment within 24 hours of inspection and acceptance (bank processing times may vary). If you decline within 5 calendar days, we will return the Device at our cost (Australian addresses). If you do not reply within 10 calendar days, you agree that we will proceed with the revised payment and keep the Device.
10) Activation locks & your data
Back up your data and remove Activation Lock/Find My (or FRP) before sending. If a Device arrives locked, we’ll request you remove the lock remotely.If not removed within 14 days, we’ll return the Device and no payment is due.
11) Stolen/blocked/counterfeit Devices
We check IMEI/serials via industry sources. If a Device is reported lost/stolen, blocked or counterfeit, no payment will be made; we will retain theDevice and may notify police as required by law.
12) Overseas/unsupported variants
We may decline region-locked or unsupported variants (e.g., incompatible bands or parts availability). If declined, we’ll return the Device or, if youprefer, provide a revised offer reflecting resale constraints.
13) Accessories & items sent in
Unless agreed otherwise, chargers, cables, cases, screen protectors and boxes have no added value and may be recycled. SIMs and memory cardsleft in parcels will be destroyed for privacy.
14) When title passes & payments (within 24 hours)
Title transfers when you accept our final offer (or when an auto-accept under clause 9 triggers). We will issue payment within 24 hours of inspectionand acceptance (bank processing times may vary).
15) Return shipping on decline (covered by us) - exceptions
If you decline our revised offer, we cover return shipping within Australia except where the Device is reported lost/stolen, counterfeit, unlawful to return,or presents safety/transport risks (e.g., swollen/damaged batteries). In those cases, we will comply with law/police directions and applicable safetyrules.
16) Privacy & direct marketing
We handle personal information under our Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles. Marketing is opt-in only; you can unsubscribe at anytime. We follow Australia’s Spam Act (consent, identification, functional unsubscribe).
17) Business sellers & bulk lots
If you sell on behalf of a business, you warrant authority to sell and that goods are unencumbered. We may request asset lists, proof of purchase and additional verification. Separate bulk-buyback terms may apply.
18) Pricing, GST & tax
Unless stated otherwise, buyback prices are GST-inclusive. Your own tax treatment depends on your circumstances.
19) Liability & Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes your non-excludable rights under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent permitted, our liability for services is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of re-supply. We do not rely on unfair contract terms in standard-form contracts.
20) Unordered or unidentified Devices
If we receive a Device without a matching order and cannot identify the owner after reasonable steps, we will hold it and handle it in line withVictoria’s uncollected-goods process. Where possible we’ll offer return (postage at your cost).
21) Disputes
